Monitoring Your Weight Gain Diet
Weighing in is an important part of monitoring your weight gain diets progress not to be confused with a progress monitor like BF testing. Do not weight yourself trying to determine your weight gaining progress, you will only be falling into the same unproductive pattern as the countless droves of dieting failures through out the halls of health and fitness history. The next time someone says “I gained 10lbs in ten days” or something to that effect, think to your self (ok so you gained 5lbs of water 2lbs of muscle and 3lbs. of fat). I’m asking you to weight yourself only one time at the beginning of the weight gain diet and again at the monitoring intervals. Once every 2 weeks is plenty.
You will be tempted to weigh in when you see results in the mirror. Remember that the longer you wait the sweeter the reward. It also helps to strengthen discipline since it’s human nature to think to yourself, (Ok I made progress so I’ll slack a little now. Hey I deserve it) When in reality your only undoing some if not all of the good you did.
Thus begins the yo-yo weight gain diet. Don’t cheat yourself out of the success that is rightfully yours! Temptations will arise, and you’ll start bargaining with yourself, you’ll start to rationalize it and making deals with yourself, like sure I won’t bother eating this and just spend an extra 30 minutes on the weight training. This is not good nutrition. Don’t do it! It screws up reaching the ultimate goal big time. It’s all about science and math, do the math, follow the formula and enjoy the success.
Don’t ever say it was because of “Problems with your significant other”, “Depressed about work” bla, bla, bla you get the picture. All these excuses translate to (I like feeling sorry for myself). To the droves of whiners and excuse makers out there I say no excuses no regrets. Its simple and you have all the tools you need. Pick a weight gain diet which is practical and commit to it.
The bottom line is you are the master of your destiny no one but you makes the decision on what goes into your mouth. I know guys who get pissed off when I tell them this, they scream back at me “well I don’t have the money to eat right”! What kind of lame excuse is that! If you have the money to do anything it should be eat right. If not then don’t eat at all, I’ll bet you he’ll find the money somewhere to buy a few 50 cent cans of tuna each day.
